Semi-Portable and great for uses when you don't want to use an analog refractometer. Gives a very accurate reading! If you are planning to use this for metalworking fluids I would recommend the MISCO portable refract as it is more compact and hand held.
Will recommend this to anyone who homebrews, Does exactly as advertised. Will recommend this to anyone who homebrews.
and doesn't waste a huge amount of your beer wort every time ... Man this thing is handy. Just give it enough time to calibrate to the temperature of your sample before taking a measurement. Quick and sample, and doesn't waste a huge amount of your beer wort every time you want to take a measurement.
Great for measuring Brix/SG! I use it during homebrewing. Provides consistent, accurate results when following the directions. Key details:
1) Make sure the sample put on is representative (that the dropper has just the sample, not water or something else)
2) clean where the sample goes on the refractometer between uses
3) give the sample and sesor a moment (about 1 minute) to come to a consistent temperature on the sensor (otherwise you will get a low reading as the sensor and sample come into temperature equilibrium).
